About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide consultation and technical advice on technology infrastructure planning and engineering for complex or high-impact infrastructure systems
Work with enterprise architecture teams to develop technical direction for infrastructure solutions
Lead multiple complex, cross-functional projects and provide direction to junior engineers
Translate requirements and functional specifications into technical requirements for integrated, sustainable designs
Lead collaborative efforts with architects and engineers to create flexible, scalable, and maintainable system designs
Develop and validate system design prototypes with enterprise architects
Review and validate technical specifications and documentation
Oversee development and modification of complex infrastructure solutions
Build or lead complex hardware and software configurations and prepare components for infrastructure installation
Direct infrastructure testing and validation to identify system errors and confirm functional specifications
Serve as technical expert throughout implementation and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure systems
Define and oversee documentation of standards for service introduction and maintenance
Advise on strategy for the health and care of assigned domains and platforms
Evaluate service options and recommend feasibility, cost, and ROI
Estimate resources, develop support plans and schedules, manage complex project components, and mitigate risks
Mentor and advise others on company and industry methodologies, policies, standards, and controls

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer information systems (CIS), or related field, or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
7 years of experience in an IT support environment with technical experience in distributed technologies and systems development
4 years of infrastructure engineering experience working across multiple domains, platforms, or specialty areas
4 years of experience leading projects with or without direct reports
Preferred: Master’s degree in computer science, CIS, or related field
Experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior management
Experience working in a large matrixed organization
Experience working with third-party IT vendors and/or systems solution providers
Experience writing technical documentation in an infrastructure development environment
IT experience in the retail industry
