About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and execute complex functional safety and safety integrity assessment projects throughout the entire system lifecycle
- Deliver projects on time, within scope, within budget, and to high-quality standards
- Conduct lifecycle document reviews, on-site and remote audit inspections, and testing witnessing, including safety function verification, fault injection, and configuration checks
- Prepare assessment plans, audit checklists, technical review sheets, inspection reports, and certificate recommendation packages
- Ensure inspection files have integrity, traceability, and completeness
- Manage deliverables through LRQA controlled workflows and document repositories such as SharePoint/Docflow
- Act as lead technical authority and primary client contact during audit engagements
- Resolve technical ambiguities and escalate critical safety risks or significant audit findings to the Head of Functional Safety
- Partner with commercial and technical teams on technical proposals for bids
- Identify scope adjustments and variation orders
- Support business and revenue growth objectives
- Maintain timely time-tracking in SAP/BYD
- Support continuous professional development and uphold LRQA quality, health and safety, and ethics policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or above (or equivalent) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, Railway Signalling, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience within the TIC (Testing, Inspection, Certification) industry, or in safety-critical systems engineering/R&D environments
- Deep understanding of the full lifecycle (V-model, architecture design, verification & validation, hardware/software integration, fault management, safety cases) for safety-critical E/E/PE systems
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one or more key functional safety standard frameworks: EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129, EN 50657, EN 50716, ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), IEC 61508, ISO 13849, IEC 62061
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Proven track record of writing defensible technical assessment reports and presenting findings to clients, regulatory bodies, and technical committees
- CCAA Registered Inspector/Auditor qualification preferred
- Recognized Functional Safety Professional/Expert/Manager certification preferred
- Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities
