About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in a 10-week paid summer internship
  • Attend development workshops focused on key business concepts
  • Work on meaningful technical and/or non-technical projects under mentorship
  • Assist with rate or Medicare bid filings through analysis of benefit designs, claims experience, and expected future events
  • Assist with trend analyses
  • Assist with preliminary reserve and future claim liability development
  • Support analysis of health-plan impacts from regulatory changes
  • Assist with risk adjustment analyses
  • Support risk-sharing analyses, capitation development, and associated settlements
  • Perform analyses for financial planning, forecasting, and financial projections
  • Prepare and maintain documentation
  • Complete ad-hoc analyses and projects
  • Support strategic projects and assist department staff
  • Complete assignments based on business needs and departmental priorities
  • Create and deliver a presentation at the end of the internship
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect member privacy
  • Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance
  • Perform other functions assigned by management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment
  • Enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Desired majors include Mathematics, Economics, Actuarial, and Statistics
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences and staff at all company levels
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and changing environment while maintaining attention to detail and delivering high-quality work
  • Ability to work well in a team and establish good working relationships
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
  • Proactive, creative, and flexible approach to assigned tasks
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and on intra- and inter-departmental teams
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment
  • Ability to sit and/or stand at a workstation using a computer, keyboard, mouse, and/or phone for three or more hours at a time
  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training as needed
