About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support healthcare analytics projects focused on affordability, quality, utilization management, and data-driven decision-making
  • Extract, validate, and analyze healthcare claims, enrollment, provider, and quality data
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses for leadership and operational teams
  • Perform data quality reviews to identify anomalies, trends, and process-improvement opportunities
  • Document business requirements, data definitions, and analytical methodologies
  • Assist with data visualization and storytelling by translating complex findings into actionable summaries
  • Learn healthcare analytics concepts including utilization, cost and trend analysis, provider performance, quality measures, and population health metrics
  • Work with a mentor and support strategic projects
  • Complete assignments based on business needs, departmental priorities, and qualifications
  • Perform technical and non-technical tasks across business-related projects
  • Create and deliver a presentation at the completion of the internship
  • Maintain confidentiality and member privacy
  • Demonstrate integrity and support the company's mission, values, Corporate Code of Conduct, and Lifetime Way values
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Undergraduate or graduate student with continuous college enrollment in a full-time degree program
  • High School diploma
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Preferred experience with data analysis using SQL, SAS, or similar analytical tools
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, data manipulation, and basic reporting
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms
  • Understanding of database concepts and data structures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences and interface with staff at all levels
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and changing environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to work well in a team and establish good working relationships
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills
  • Proactive, creative, and flexible approach to assigned tasks
  • Commitment to continuous improvement
  • Ability to work independently and on intra- and inter-departmental teams
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment
  • Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse, and/or phone for three or more hours at a time
  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or training as needed
