About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Participate in a 10-week paid summer internship
  • Attend development workshops and network within the company
  • Work on meaningful projects under the mentorship of managers
  • Reconcile monthly premiums billed with payments received and resolve shortages, overpayments, refunds, and billing adjustments
  • Recover unpaid premiums through internal collections and escalation to external collection agencies and/or attorneys
  • Analyze provider overpayment negative-balance populations to identify trends
  • Review DLP inventory for completeness
  • Support key strategic projects
  • Complete assignments based on business needs, departmental priorities, and qualifications
  • Perform technical and non-technical business-related projects
  • Create and deliver a presentation at the end of the internship
  • Maintain confidentiality and protect member privacy
  • Demonstrate integrity and support the company mission, values, and Code of Conduct
  • Perform other functions as assigned by management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with technical and non-technical audiences and staff at all levels
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and on intra- and inter-departmental teams
  • Preferred experience with Excel, AI tools, Microsoft 365, finance knowledge, and critical thinking
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment
  • Ability to work at a workstation using a computer, keyboard, mouse and/or phone for three or more hours at a time
  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region as needed
  • Regular and reliable attendance required
