About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute multiple operational performance and workforce management strategic and reporting initiatives
  • Oversee performance and workforce optimization initiatives for operations functional areas
  • Support operations functional areas on corporate workforce management projects
  • Provide system performance analysis and develop, identify, and execute process improvements and business plans
  • Lead an internal team of operational performance and workforce optimization professionals in testing, configuration, development, quality, and training
  • Collaborate with operations leadership to develop and implement best practices using performance management data, tools, and workforce optimization methods
  • Train operational leadership on comprehensive reporting and analysis tools and standard performance reporting
  • Oversee development of reporting solutions to drive performance improvement
  • Implement, train, and provide consultative services on reporting options for various audiences
  • Drive operational improvement through analytic data to improve timeliness, work process efficiency, and resource utilization
  • Oversee operational performance and workforce management tools and business implementations, including requirements writing and user experience testing
  • Serve as the division’s key technical resource for operational performance and workforce management tools and technology
  • Manage workforce management vendor relationships, evaluate new technologies, recommend technology improvements, and support vendor contract negotiations
  • Support operational excellence vendor management in overseeing external vendor resources
  • Prepare and deliver management summary reports and presentations to project teams, department heads, and management
  • Monitor, coach, and mentor staff; recommend improvement strategies
  • Develop the workforce optimization team through coaching and mentoring and ensure training needs are met
  • Ensure operational expectations, corporate goals, BCBSA performance standards, and federal and state mandates are achieved
  • Maintain compliance with corporate privacy policies, legislative and regulatory mandates, and Ethics/Compliance requirements
  • Conduct periodic staff meetings and distribute and educate staff on departmental and Ethics/Compliance information
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and minimum of five (5) years of related experience in health care field, including two (2) years in a defined leadership role; or, in lieu of degree, minimum of eleven (11) years of related progressive experience in health care field, including two (2) years in a defined leadership role
  • Familiarity with health care operational processing systems, practices, and procedures
  • Considerable knowledge of operational processes and systems and ability to identify information and data required to develop analytics
  • Expertise in data gathering, data collection, and extract, transform, load (ETL) methods
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SQL, and Power BI
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with other areas of the corporation
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated skills in forming and fostering high-performing, cross-functional teams
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to deal effectively and professionally with all levels of management and personnel
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
  • Proficiency in identifying root causes of business and/or workflow problems and determining innovative solutions and opportunities
  • Highly organized, self-starter with proven ability to produce high-quality output
  • Positive attitude and highly effective relationship-building skills
