About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct support for Pharmacy and Medical Drug information needs using analytic tools and applications
- Research, manage, and lead enterprise projects to meet business objectives
- Analyze data to identify business problems, trends, and process-improvement opportunities
- Provide consultation and analytic support for Pharmacy Benefit affordability and effectiveness
- Research, analyze, and evaluate feasibility of new Pharmacy products
- Communicate health plan cost, utilization trends, savings strategies, results, insights, and recommendations
- Develop and deliver actionable insights to enterprise stakeholders
- Conduct comparative pricing analyses for pharmacy benefit Requests for Proposal with Sales, Finance, and Actuarial
- Support strategy development and innovative pharmacy programs
- Ensure compliance with governmental, contractual, and corporate guidelines and participate in CMS and DOH audits
- Develop standardized reporting and processes
- Compile, evaluate, and process complex datasets into user-friendly actionable insights
- Consult with Business Intelligence teams to develop automated reports, dashboards, and cubes
- Engage external partners and customers including employer groups, brokers, consultants, providers, and vendors
- Create unified strategies targeting healthcare cost reduction
- Manage multiple projects and competing deadlines
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary, functional, and analytic teams
- Level II: train and mentor analysts, serve as a subject matter expert, and develop data strategies and process efficiencies
- Level III: optimize self-service reporting, connect claims and management-system data, and develop predictive cost-savings models with Data Science
- Level IV: recommend advanced analytic models, perform data mining, improve visual analytics, interpret model outputs, assess analytic product upgrades, and prepare studies for publication or national presentations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Medical Informatics, Economics, or related field preferred; alternatively, two related years’ experience in data or information analyses and reporting
- Knowledge and applicable use of analytic tools including SAS, Cognos, Excel, Access, SPSS, DataFlux, AQT, WinSCP, and PuTTY
- Proficiency in SAS and/or Cognos and Microsoft tools
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of basic statistical concepts and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to simplify complex datasets through visual interpretation and highlighting significant data points
- Knowledge of the health care system; physician or hospital claims/group data experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers and business partners
- Level II: minimum three years’ analytic experience in healthcare; ability to work with datasets of 2TB or greater; SQL, VBA, Power Play, Impromptu, and moderate SAS proficiency
- Level III: minimum five years’ experience using statistical concepts and tools; relational database expertise; data mining, forecasting, predictive modeling, and/or actuarial techniques
- Level IV: minimum three years’ healthcare-specific predictive modeling experience or seven years’ experience in health informatics; ability to create, develop, and validate models independently
- SAS Base Certification required for Level IV
- Advanced analytic software programming proficiency, including SAS EBI suite, Information Maps, Stored Processes, Web Report Studio, and Information Delivery Portal
- Ability to work prolonged periods at a workstation using a computer
- Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and/or trainings as needed
