About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide practical, solutions-focused legal advice across Lucid Group's UK and US businesses
- Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including MSAs, SOWs, supplier and contractor agreements, confidentiality agreements and other commercial arrangements
- Advise on liability, indemnities, intellectual property, confidentiality, data protection, insurance and termination provisions
- Support contract negotiations and help stakeholders understand commercial and legal risk
- Develop contracting processes, templates, playbooks and guidance
- Partner with teams to understand business objectives and develop pragmatic solutions
- Apply judgement to new, complex or ambiguous legal situations
- Translate legal complexity into practical choices and recommendations for non-legal stakeholders
- Identify recurring legal and contractual challenges and develop tools, guidance, processes or solutions
- Provide international legal support across UK and US operations
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments across key markets
- Advise on domestic and cross-border data privacy matters and applicable UK, EU and US privacy requirements
- Support legal and compliance policies, processes, training and awareness
- Advise the Board, People/HR team and wider business on employment law, corporate governance and wider business matters
- Support strategic projects, corporate transactions, investments, acquisitions and integration activity
- Work with external legal advisers and proactively identify emerging legal issues, risks and opportunities
- Report to the Chief Financial Officer and manage one Senior Legal Counsel direct report
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualification as a lawyer in England & Wales, the US or another relevant jurisdiction
- Approximately 8-10 years' post-qualification experience, or equivalent relevant experience, gained within private practice and/or an in-house legal environment
- Strong experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
- Good knowledge of corporate, employment and commercial law
- Demonstrable experience advising on UK, US and cross-border legal matters
- Strong working knowledge of the legal and regulatory environments in the UK and US
- Ability to identify when specialist local advice is required
- Knowledge of data privacy and experience supporting matters involving data protection and privacy requirements
- Experience working within, or supporting, an international organisation and stakeholders operating across multiple jurisdictions
- Experience within healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medical communications or another highly regulated industry would be advantageous but is not essential
- Experience supporting M&A, corporate transactions and/or a private-equity-backed organisation would be advantageous
- Location in the UK; possible US travel required
