About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and build production applications, services, and extensions for priority banking and mortgage needs
Define scope and acceptance criteria with business owners
Build and support REST API, webhook, event, and scheduled batch integrations
Evaluate vendor capabilities and close gaps between third-party software and Luminate's operations
Implement authentication, input validation, idempotency, bounded retries, rate limiting, safe replay, and reconciliation
Own architecture and technical quality for assigned services
Use approved AI coding agents to accelerate implementation, testing, and documentation
Create reusable AI agent skills, instructions, and patterns with scoped permissions and sensitive-data rules
Define controls, evaluations, human approval points, monitoring, and recovery for AI-agent use cases
Maintain GitHub-based development and release practices and migrate from Azure DevOps
Build repository templates and CI/CD workflows with automated testing, scanning, secret detection, reviews, and controlled environment promotion
Provision and maintain infrastructure as code
Maintain engineering and operational documentation
Implement controls protecting NPI and other sensitive data
Work with Information Security, Compliance, and Risk on threat modeling, AI approvals, vendor reviews, vulnerability remediation, and audit evidence
Instrument services with logs, metrics, health checks, and alerts
Maintain and test backup, recovery, alerting, and incident-response procedures
Participate in incident response and critical releases
Mentor engineers and specialists through pairing, design reviews, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
Cross-train the team and support recruiting, technical interviews, and onboarding
Collaborate with technology leadership, delivery stakeholders, Data & Analytics, Business Solutions & Delivery, and IT & Infrastructure
Define integration contracts and shared delivery patterns with Data & Analytics

Requirements

What you’ll need

Typically 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
Track record of designing, delivering, and supporting production applications
Technical leadership through architecture, mentoring, code review, and cross-functional delivery
Hands-on experience developing applications with AI coding agents such as Claude Code
Ability to review generated code, test behavior, protect sensitive information, and recognize AI tool limitations
Experience shipping through a reviewed delivery pipeline in GitHub, Azure DevOps, GitLab, or similar
Ability to build GitHub-based CI/CD and infrastructure automation
Experience deploying and operating services handling sensitive data
Application security, identity, secrets management, and incident response experience
Hands-on experience building API and webhook integrations
Experience with authentication, error handling, data consistency, and production troubleshooting
Experience solutioning gaps between third-party vendor platforms and internal business processes
Strong programming skills in Python, TypeScript/JavaScript, C#, or similar
Experience with relational databases, SQL, and API design
Familiarity with OWASP Top 10, secure SDLC, identity and access management, and NPI protection
Ability to understand data flows and dependencies across multiple platforms
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related software development field required
Bachelor's degree preferred
Cloud, security, or DevOps certifications are a plus
Preferred experience with banking or mortgage technology such as Encompass, Vesta, or Jack Henry
Preferred experience building or governing production AI agents
Preferred experience setting up engineering practices for a small team or leading a migration to GitHub
