About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own the mobile application end to end for iOS and Android
Implement and maintain the mobile build pipeline, producing signed builds and keeping configuration current
Release the app to the App Store and Google Play, managing versioning, phased rollouts, and store review
Deliver reliable mobile audio capture for consultations, including microphone permissions, background recording, and interruption handling
Make audio uploads resilient on poor networks with retry and resume functionality
Bring mature web features into the mobile app and adapt them for small screens
Optimise reporting and telemetry to improve app stability
Build and maintain the mobile test suite and run it in the build pipeline
Monitor Apple and Google platform changes and plan required work

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong experience in cross-platform development with React Native
Preferable experience with Swift/SwiftUI and Kotlin
Hands-on experience with mobile audio capture, including background audio, interruption handling, and microphone permissions
Experience automating mobile builds and releases with tools such as Expo (EAS), Xcode Cloud, or Gradle
Experience with code signing and phased rollouts on both the App Store and Google Play
Confidence in TypeScript
Ability to read and change a SvelteKit web codebase
Experience with mobile test automation using Browserstack
Experience integrating mobile apps with REST APIs
Nice to have: Progressive Web Apps, service workers, web app manifests, and offline caching
Nice to have: mobile crash reporting and telemetry with Sentry or similar
Nice to have: on-device data protection, including encryption at rest and short data retention
Nice to have: SvelteKit and TypeScript backend frameworks
Nice to have: AWS and Terraform
Nice to have: software development experience in healthcare or other regulated environments
Must have the right to work in the UK on an ongoing basis without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future
