About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage client relationships and daily administration of assigned Global Capital Markets accounts
- Oversee administrative, operational, risk management, cash flow, fee billing, reporting and tickler-processing activities for assigned transactions
- Monitor systems, databases and account activity to ensure compliance with policies, procedures and guidelines
- Review, analyze and comment on operative documents and agreements for assigned accounts
- Coordinate risk monitoring and regulatory compliance with Legal, Risk, Compliance and Audit
- Research and resolve control and client service issues
- Work with attorneys, financial advisors, interested parties and service partners to structure and close GCM transactions
- Participate in sales calls, prepare fee proposals, evaluate fees and monitor aged receivables
- Cultivate current and prospective client and referral-source relationships to identify new business opportunities
- Identify and implement approved fee increases, discounts and waivers according to established controls
- Provide coverage and support for other Relationship Managers
- Represent GCM and/or lead departmental projects and corporate initiatives
- Assist management with business product and process development
- May supervise and/or mentor less experienced associates
- Adhere to risk, regulatory and internal-control standards and escalate risk issues to management
- Promote belonging and reflect the M&T Bank brand
- Implement internal and external audit points and address external regulator issues
- Complete other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years’ client service experience in Global Capital Markets products or markets, OR a combined minimum of 6 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 2 years’ client service experience in Global Capital Markets products or markets
- High level of proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent software
- Prior experience reading, analyzing and interpreting legal documents
- Prior experience calculating amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages
- Familiarity with corporate structures, relevant laws and regulations
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong analytical skills
- CCTS (Certified Corporate Trust Specialist) certification preferred
- Working knowledge of pertinent specialized internal software applications preferred
- Managerial or leadership experience preferred
- Demonstrated sense of ownership in jobs or projects preferred
