About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Define the roadmap, vision, and investment priorities for M&T's enterprise payments ecosystem
Lead the evolution of ACH, Zelle/P2P, Wire Transfers, SWIFT, RTP, FedNow, Payment APIs, Digital Assets, and emerging payment capabilities
Evaluate payment industry trends, networks, fintech innovations, and technologies
Lead multiple agile product teams responsible for enterprise payment products and services
Develop and execute multi-year capability roadmaps
Own and manage the enterprise payments product portfolio and modernization initiatives
Lead payment modernization, cloud enablement, platform simplification, API adoption, resiliency, and innovation transformations
Establish business requirements, prioritize features, and guide delivery teams
Make prioritization and trade-off decisions across business, technology, operational, and regulatory demands
Drive automation, simplification, operational efficiency, and modernization
Establish KPIs measuring capability health, customer satisfaction, operational effectiveness, resiliency, risk management, and business value
Lead, coach, and develop Product Owners
Foster delivery excellence, innovation, agility, and continuous improvement
Mature and scale product management capabilities across the payments organization and enterprise
Partner with Technology, Architecture, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Finance, and business lines
Translate enterprise objectives into scalable products, capabilities, and measurable business results
Lead cross-functional discussions on architecture, resiliency, modernization, digital enablement, and innovation
Serve as executive advocate for Enterprise Payments
Represent M&T's payments strategy in enterprise forums, strategic planning, and industry engagements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
Combined minimum of 10+ years of higher education and/or work experience in product management, product ownership, business, technology, payments, or related experience
Ability to reside within a reasonable commuting distance to 1 Seneca Street, Buffalo, NY 14203
10+ years of leadership experience managing and developing teams within a complex organization (preferred)
Experience across enterprise payment ecosystems, including ACH, Wire Transfers, SWIFT, RTP, FedNow, Payment APIs, Digital Assets, Zelle/P2P, treasury services, transaction banking, or related financial services domains (preferred)
Demonstrated success leading enterprise product organizations and delivering large-scale strategic initiatives (preferred)
Experience leading payment transformation, modernization, platform migration, or technology enablement programs (preferred)
Proven success developing and executing multi-year product or capability roadmaps in a large enterprise environment (preferred)
Strong understanding of payment operations, money movement infrastructure, payment networks, and industry trends (preferred)
Experience balancing customer needs, operational requirements, regulatory obligations, and technology strategy when defining priorities and making investment decisions (preferred)
Experience partnering with Architecture and Engineering teams to deliver cloud-enabled, API-driven, and customer-centric solutions (preferred)
Strong knowledge of Agile, Lean, and modern product management principles and practices (preferred)
Exceptional communication, executive presence, influence, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills (preferred)
Strong analytical, strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities (preferred)
