About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Evaluate disability documentation and determine eligibility for reasonable accommodations
  • Coordinate and provide individualized support services for students with disabilities
  • Provide ongoing case management and monitor student progress

  • Participate in disability awareness programs, orientations, and community partnerships
  • Advocate for an inclusive learning environment
  • Deliver presentations about Disability Resource Services, accommodations, and related topics
  • Support students at all campuses, primarily Truax and Goodman South, with travel to other campuses as required
  • Perform other related duties supporting division operations and institutional objectives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, education, special education, vocational rehabilitation, human services, or a related field
  • Five (5) years of professional experience directly related to the skills required to successfully perform the accountabilities of this position
  • Knowledge of disability laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
  • Knowledge of disability documentation requirements, assessment methods and accommodation processes
  • Skill in evaluating disability documentation, determining accommodation eligibility and assisting students
  • Skill in case management, including monitoring student progress, adjusting accommodation and collaborating with faculty and staff
  • Ability to conduct intake assessments, engage students in interactive interviews and authorize accommodations
  • Ability to advocate for disability inclusion, challenge attitudinal barriers and promote institutional awareness
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Windows-based systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency with software applications relevant to the area of responsibility
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and maintain work authorization throughout the employment term
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, education, special education, vocational rehabilitation
  • Preferably experience within educational or community-based organizations serving individuals with physical, mental, or other disabilities
  • Preferred candidates will have at least one year of experience determining accommodations and/or working with individuals on the autism spectrum
