About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Own day-to-day reliability for the GrayKey cloud platform during Pacific and Mountain hours, extending coverage into the Eastern evening
Monitor alerts and dashboards, triage incidents, resolve issues, and escalate with clear context
Patch Linux hosts, containers, and dependencies and remediate vulnerability findings
Manage VPCs, security groups, VPN, DNS, TLS certificates, IAM, and Fortigate firewalls
Diagnose subnet and security-group connectivity issues
Implement cloud changes through Terraform and GitLab merge requests
Administer Okta, including SAML/OIDC integrations, provisioning, group-based access, and MFA troubleshooting
Support EKS clusters, including node groups, upgrades, scaling, and cluster health
Troubleshoot Kubernetes workloads and Argo CD synchronization and deployment errors
Maintain backup strategies and test restore procedures
Write and maintain runbooks and operating procedures
Track AWS spend, remove waste, and automate repetitive tasks
Gather compliance evidence and maintain controls for customer and audit requirements
Participate in code reviews, planning, and post-incident reviews

Requirements

What you’ll need

3+ years in an SRE, DevOps, or Linux/cloud systems administration role
Hands-on AWS experience with VPC networking, IAM, EC2, RDS, and Lambda
Proficiency in Linux administration and Python and Bash scripting
Infrastructure as Code with Terraform
Working experience with Kubernetes (EKS), Argo CD, Helm, GitLab CI/CD, and Datadog or comparable observability tooling
Hands-on Okta administration, including SAML/OIDC integrations, provisioning, and MFA
Practical security experience with least-privilege IAM, secrets handling, patch management, and network segmentation
Solid networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, routing, firewalls, and VPNs
Clear written communication and ability to work independently across time zones
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
Must reside in the United States or Canada and be located within the Pacific or Mountain Time Zone
Satisfactory completion of a background check

Nice-to-have: exposure to SOC 2, CJIS, or FedRAMP compliance; Active Directory/Azure AD; Ansible, Docker, PostgreSQL, Redis; AI coding assistants; IT operations or security-focused team experience
