About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform formability analysis of sheet metal parts
  • Simulate processes using CAE software and suggest countermeasures for defects
  • Interact with customers and resolve concerns
  • Conduct manufacturing feasibility studies for new model introduction on existing lines
  • Develop BIW process plans for manual and robotic welding lines
  • Develop BIW robotic welding simulation cells and offline programming in PS Teamcenter or standalone systems
  • Generate simulation and OLP standards and check sheets through benchmarking and lessons learned
  • Collaborate with CME process, PLC, and line builders to verify simulations and OLP during DAP and supplier trials
  • Install and commission processes and provide post-SOP support for process and cycle-time prove-out
  • Prepare line layouts, manufacturing process flows, cycle-time charts, and RFQs for BIW subassembly
  • Study guns, equipment, and fixtures and recommend product changes to ensure manufacturability
  • Build stations, cells, and lines in PS by adding relevant resources
  • Check gun reachability, apply tool kinematics, and create collision-free robot paths
  • Generate basic welding and tip-dressing paths and zoning conditions
  • Coordinate with line builders to optimize robot paths and zoning and provide design-improvement feedback
  • Identify root causes when cycle-time targets are not achieved
  • Ensure zero errors, collisions, and losses through continuous involvement with the execution team

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelors of Technology in Mechanical / Automobile
  • Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical / Automobile
  • 2 to 8 years of relevant experience in BIW Manufacturing, Production, Assembly
  • Experience with CAE software: Auto Form / PAM-Stamp
  • Experience developing BIW process plans for manual and robotic welding lines
  • Experience developing BIW robotic welding simulation cells and OLP in PS Teamcenter / standalone
  • Hands-on experience with virtual controllers such as ABB, Fanuc, or KUKA
  • Ability to generate OLP with 99% cycle-time accuracy
  • Knowledge of gun reachability, tool kinematics, robot paths, collision avoidance, welding, tip dressing, and zoning conditions
  • Experience with installation, commissioning, supplier trials, DAP, and post-SOP process support
  • Automotive industry experience preferred
