About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Meet or exceed territory sales-plan and expense-plan goals
  • Develop and implement strategies specific to the assigned territory
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with targeted opinion leaders and physicians
  • Maintain current knowledge of company products and relevant disease states
  • Develop territory business plans, plan workdays and weeks, establish call plans, and prepare for sales calls
  • Develop and implement territory programs such as speakers’ bureaus and symposia
  • Develop and maintain permanent customer records
  • Complete administrative tasks accurately and on time
  • Communicate effective and accurate sales presentations to customers
  • Present a professional sales image
  • Perform duties in compliance with applicable regulations, Pharma guidelines, and company policies
  • Attend regional and national conferences throughout the year

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years’ experience required in Ophthalmology or Neurology
  • In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree: Associate’s Degree and 5+ years, or 7+ years, of successful, proven pharmaceutical or industry equivalent experience within Ophthalmology or Neurology
  • Current experience within the territory and customer knowledge highly preferred
  • Experience selling biologics to specialty physicians in rare disease areas preferred
  • Valid motor vehicle operator's license
  • Local travel; some overnight travel required
  • Ability to demonstrate documented success as a top producer
  • Superior clinical selling skills
  • In-depth understanding of clinical data, products, adjunctive therapies, disease states, market dynamics, and industry trends
  • Ability to operate within compliance, company policies, procedures, and Pharma guidelines
  • Ability to develop territory business plans and targeted account strategies
  • Strong communication, teamwork, selling, clinical, business, and resource-utilization skills
