About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and strategic partner to industry and practice group leadership on strategic and operational matters
  • Lead development of practice/industry group business plans aligned to the firm strategic plan
  • Drive execution of business plans, monitor progress, and communicate status against goals
  • Lead project management of key Practice/Industry initiatives
  • Organize and execute periodic Practice/Industry group meetings, including agendas, speakers, presentations, facilitation, and follow-up
  • Foster engagement and a positive, collaborative culture
  • Partner with Finance on revenue budgets and forecasts
  • Manage Practice/Industry expense budgets with business professional teams
  • Develop strategies to improve performance metrics and profitability
  • Support alternative fee arrangement development and approval
  • Align Marketing and Business Development resources, identify cross-selling opportunities, and support go-to-market strategies
  • Support client satisfaction programs, pipeline management, and Salesforce data cleanliness
  • Monitor utilization metrics, identify skill gaps and training needs, and support policy compliance
  • Support talent recruitment, onboarding, performance review, advancement, and training initiatives
  • Lead lateral hire integration
  • Collaborate on new client/matter intake and approval processes
  • Partner on technology, knowledge management, artificial intelligence, and practice-specific initiatives
  • Deliver data-driven performance reporting and recommendations
  • Drive process improvement and sharing of best practices
  • Maintain documentation of processes, policies, and operational needs
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in business administration, practice management, or business operations within a professional services environment (e.g. legal, consulting, financial)
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects in a collaborative manner within a matrix organization
  • Exceptional strategic business planning skills
  • Strong project management and prioritization skills
  • Strong financial acumen and budgeting skills
  • Ability to identify problems, develop practical solutions, and deliver on-time, on-budget results
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional executive presence and presentation skills
  • Sound independent judgment, tact, and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Ability to build trust and lead through influence
  • Adaptability, initiative, and a positive, can-do attitude in a fast-paced evolving environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, project management tools, and business intelligence tools
  • Proficiency in Salesforce or other CRM; Tableau reporting is a plus
