About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop strategic direction and oversight of non-timber revenue-generating activities on client assets
- Develop and monetize non-timber revenue streams across client lands
- Own and execute every value-added services project to grow revenue streams on client assets
- Report to the President of MFM
- Interact regularly with Portfolio Management and Client Services, Global Resources and Planning, Operations, and Accounting groups
- Maintain client fiduciary obligations
- Prioritize people’s safety and environmental stewardship
- Develop and maintain service-oriented relationships with MFM and MIMT personnel
- Service ongoing information and communication needs of multiple regional teams
- Provide leadership for approximately 9 employees
- Develop and execute a recreation strategy to deliver top-quartile recreational use rates
- Direct and oversee value-added revenue projects, including carbon and wetland mitigation banks, sand, clay, gravel sales, water filtration/storage, pine straw, and renewable energy
- Develop internal personnel to identify non-core revenue opportunities
- Oversee non-core revenue project management, including safety, stewardship, SFI® and FSC® compliance, marketing, planning, recreational use, and protection
- Oversee asset management activities, including acquisitions and dispositions
- Lead communications involving stakeholders, public relations, regulatory monitoring, industry participation, and government relations
- Assist with policy development and implementation
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures and applicable federal, state, and local laws
- Oversee regional client accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, taxes, financial accounting, debt management, and cash flow requirements
- Work with the Resource Support Team on forest inventory, forest planning, and modeling interfaces
- Participate in regional industry associations and committees
- Manage transactions exceeding $100 million annually across North America
Requirements
What you’ll need- A bachelor’s degree in the environmental field or equivalent experience is required
- Graduate degree in an environmental-related discipline or business management is highly desirable
- Experience working with agencies providing oversight to non-core revenue projects, such as wetland mitigation banks
- Minimum of 10 years of environmental project management experience
- Minimum of 10 years of organizational management and leadership experience within an organization of significant size and scope
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, collaborate across functions, and operate effectively in a self-directed environment
- Excellent relationship, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Strong analytical, financial, and technology skills
- Strong asset management skills
- Customer service orientation
