About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support creation, refinement, and maintenance of reusable design system components and patterns
  • Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and visual designs for web and mobile digital experiences
  • Collaborate with product designers, developers, researchers, and business stakeholders to solve user and business challenges
  • Improve design system component flexibility, consistency, and usability
  • Maintain and update design documentation, guidelines, naming conventions, and best practices
  • Help ensure designs meet accessibility standards and promote inclusive user experiences
  • Participate in design critiques, collaborative workshops, and cross-functional team discussions
  • Contribute to research, journey mapping, and other user-centered design activities
  • Work with the Global Design System team to evolve Manulife's digital experiences

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Product Design, UX/UI Design, Interaction Design, Digital Media, Human-Computer Interaction, Graphic Design, Global Business & Digital Arts, Systems Design, or a related discipline
  • Experience using Figma to create digital experiences, prototypes, and design assets
  • Strong visual design skills with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles and design thinking methodologies
  • Ability to communicate design concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Portfolio showcasing design projects, digital products, visual design work, or UX/UI case studies
  • Preferred: Experience working with design systems or component libraries
  • Preferred: Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG and AODA
  • Preferred: Experience with user research, usability testing, or customer journey mapping
  • Preferred: Familiarity with service design methodologies and design strategy
  • Preferred: Exposure to Agile or Scrum product development environments
  • Preferred: Understanding of digital product development and modern web experiences
