About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and deliver timber investment models supporting asset management decisions
- Provide expertise in timberland discounted cash-flow modeling, assumption development, harvest scheduling, and price forecasting
- Prepare comprehensive property management plans, annual long-term plans, and regional timber product price schedules for North American client assets
- Organize, plan, and execute CPMP modeling deliverables for assigned timber properties
- Develop consensus assumptions and harvest yields
- Construct Woodstock and DCF models
- Integrate tactical harvest planning, conduct sensitivity analysis, explain variances, and communicate with stakeholders
- Update asset-level timber investment models annually, including land transactions, operating costs, price forecasts, and revised operating plan assumptions
- Analyze changes to IRR and net present value and quantify and attribute variance
- Conduct ad-hoc investment analyses, including disposition transactions, silviculture treatments, spot timber marketing prices, and non-timber value-added services
- Execute assigned model production workflows and business controls
- Diagnose and resolve investment modeling issues
- Build customer relationships and achieve stakeholder consensus
- Provide quality control and assurance of other team members’ work
- Present complex investment performance results effectively to customers and audiences
- Recommend and develop modeling process improvements
- Represent MFM in business with third-party consultants
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in forestry or a related discipline
- Knowledge of silviculture, growth and yield models, and North American forestry operations
- Timber investment and discounted cash-flow modeling knowledge
- Knowledge of Remsoft modeling software
- Knowledge of DCF modeling frameworks
- Knowledge of SQL
- Knowledge of Esri GIS
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Self-directed
- Quality-focused
- Effective time management in a multi-task environment
- Graduate degree in forestry or business is highly desirable
