About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide expertise and consultation to the Bermuda Business Unit, Global High Net Worth, and Asia Segment Compliance
  • Manage Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing programs
  • Conduct Enhanced Due Diligence reviews for new business applicants, high-risk in-force customers, banks, and third-party partners
  • Review AML alerts, watchlists, transaction monitoring, real-time watchlist scans, and automated batch scans
  • Perform ownership-structure and payor due diligence reviews
  • Manage privacy programs and incident reporting/handling
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Compliance reports
  • Establish and update policies and procedures
  • Create and deliver Compliance training
  • Set direction, establish goals, and manage Compliance function tasks as an individual contributor
  • Support Senior Compliance Consultants and the Compliance Director/Chief Compliance Officer
  • Build relationships with Underwriting, Titles, Distribution, and related Compliance teams
  • Analyze complex concepts requiring research and interpretation, including new business case reviews
  • Support development and implementation of policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements
  • Lead and support special projects
  • Complete reporting at BU, segment, or divisional level
  • Represent Compliance on BU-specific, division-wide, or global projects
  • Collaborate across the organization to meet Compliance needs and BU goals
  • Share best practices and support Bermuda Compliance team members
  • Help ensure the Business Unit understands compliance requirements
  • Make Compliance decisions, prioritize deliverables and projects, and manage internal and external resources

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • College/University Degree and/or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of related financial services, Compliance or management experience
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong technology skills, including knowledge of applicable Compliance or business systems
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong ethical compass
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the financial services industry with advanced understanding of the Company’s businesses
  • Advanced understanding of the regulatory environment, primarily Bermuda and Canada, and key compliance requirements applicable to the business
  • Negotiating, influencing, and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to represent the business internally and externally, including with regulators and industry peers
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong project management skills
  • Ability to facilitate decision-making across company groups
  • Strong people/interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Strong business and product knowledge
  • Ability to interact with roles from different areas and levels across the organization
  • Ability to analyze technical information, make recommendations to decision makers, and make decisions
  • Relevant certifications such as CAMS, or willingness to obtain certification(s), are a plus
