About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Analyze and report detailed refinery value chain outcomes in the West Region
  • Review month-to-date refinery gross margin performance against benchmarks
  • Contribute to weekly executive-level reports
  • Analyze gross margin impacts compared with MPC’s externally reported Refining & Marketing margin indicator
  • Link refinery operational performance and market trends to financial outcomes
  • Collaborate with VCO, FVC, Refining BP&A, and Consolidation BP&A
  • Report monthly lost profit opportunity impacts
  • Maintain the West Region refinery index and analyze index-to-crack deviations
  • Determine breakeven crack spreads for individual refineries and the West Region
  • Contribute to long-term business plans and short-term refinery gross margin forecasts
  • Analyze actual performance versus forecasted results
  • Prepare quarterly Value Chain P&L reviews and provide performance insights to refinery leadership
  • Track financial impacts of VCO Continual Commercial Improvement efforts and Run as One Initiatives
  • Enhance processes, systems, and automation to support deeper analysis and commentary
  • Support ad hoc management, VCO, and FVC requests for refinery value chains

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Accounting or related discipline required
  • Six (6) years in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Experience in BP&A and Commercial Roles preferred
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Power BI and SAP/BW preferred
  • Familiarity with refining operations considered an asset
  • Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across BP&A, VCO, and Accounting teams
  • Travel requirement: (<5%)
