About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Optimize the long-term profitability of the West value chain
  • Manage commercial planning for the next three years across regional refinery operations
  • Perform feedstock selection, product and intermediate placement, inventory optimization, seasonal inventory plays, supply chain optimization, and market analysis
  • Analyze model results and develop optimal refinery planning solutions
  • Complete and communicate LP-based strategic analyses of regional assets
  • Develop optimized and executable regional business plans using linear programming simulation models
  • Communicate mid-term planning economic strategies and drivers to the short-term planning team
  • Model refinery constraints and develop economic projects associated with constraint removal
  • Lead regional 10-year turnaround timing and production plan optimization
  • Manage project support cases and evaluate regional capital projects using LP or spreadsheet-based economics
  • Collaborate with Value Chain, Business Development, Clean Products, Crude and Feedstocks, Marketing, Refining, Asset Development, and MPLX teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience required
  • Technical Services or Economics & Planning experience preferred
  • Advanced understanding of refinery operations, economics, and market dynamics across the value chain
  • Ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and propose solutions autonomously
  • Linear programming simulation model experience
  • Spreadsheet-based economics experience
  • Communication, critical thinking, adaptability, decision making, problem solving, strategic planning, and teamwork skills
