About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide overall management, planning, execution, and leadership for all aspects of a designated market
  • Create mission impact, mobilize supporters, grow diversified revenue, steward donors, develop boards and staff, manage human resources, and maintain budgets
  • Position March of Dimes as a leader in maternal and child health care
  • Establish partnerships with corporations, foundations, community and corporate leaders, government officials, nonprofits, and supporters
  • Report to the Associate Vice President of Market Impact, sharing successes and solving problems
  • Lead and develop local donor relationship, mission, and shared-services staff
  • Develop and implement local strategic plans focused on mission impact, health equity, measurable outcomes, and revenue growth
  • Recruit, coach, and retain influential state-level volunteer leaders and board members
  • Lead fundraising, donor portfolios, major gifts, planned giving, corporate engagement, and mission investment opportunities
  • Collaborate with national business partners to develop strategic partnerships
  • Ensure CRM data integrity and use reporting to support business decisions
  • Monitor donor needs, market trends, and competitor actions to forecast revenue and identify opportunities
  • Develop strategic plans, revenue projections, financial analyses, and budgets
  • Conduct quarterly market reviews and ensure staff execute strategic priorities
  • Recruit, train, activate, and retain volunteer leadership
  • Hire, coach, develop, evaluate, and retain diverse market staff
  • Establish performance goals, accountability measures, benchmarks, and milestones
  • Provide constructive feedback, professional development, and career pathing
  • Create a productive, respectful, and culturally diverse work environment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4 year college degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience managing multiple staff across various functional areas, including telecommuting employees
  • Nonprofit environment experience is a plus
  • Detail-oriented with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with ability to motivate staff and lead change
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven track record building internal and external relationships
