About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform duties within the medical assistant scope of practice under direct supervision of a physician, mid-level provider, or Nurse Manager
  • Ensure quality patient care for patients going through the judicial system
  • Complete required documentation in the electronic health record or other modality
  • Verify dental, behavioral, and medical health information with outside healthcare organizations
  • Conduct office duties including copying, filing, scanning, scheduling, and document preparation
  • Respond to and direct clinical calls in person, by telephone, and online
  • Maintain confidentiality in all communications and interactions
  • Travel or float to various clinical locations within a 5-mile radius
  • Respond to emergencies and perform required physical duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • One year of experience as a medical assistant performing front- and back-office duties
  • Experience with venipuncture, electronic health records, phlebotomy, patient vitals, and EKGs
  • Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion from an accredited healthcare training program
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification from the American Medical Technologists
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work inside a jail and stand, walk, and bend for extended periods
  • Ability to handle high-volume work and communicate with a culturally diverse patient population
  • Ability to work day or night shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to travel or float to various clinical locations within a 5-mile radius
  • Ability to respond to emergencies
  • Must maintain CPR and First Aid certification and perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, and lift patients on a gurney
  • Must pass a fingerprint background check and maintain MCSO jail access
  • Must pass pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation and applicable drug and alcohol testing
