About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide assessments and implement appropriate nursing interventions
- Monitor patient progress and evaluate outcomes
- Perform standard nursing procedures appropriate to patients' needs
- Complete and process required documentation, including plans and discharge planning, comprehensively, objectively, and legibly
- Provide health-related education to patients as appropriate to patient needs
- Administer medication and address other pharmacological needs
- Perform basic intravenous and phlebotomy skills
- Participate in orientation and training of new employees, contract staff, students, and others
- Respond to medical needs and provide continuity of care for patients during their stay in the county jail system
- Work across various clinical locations in the Phoenix area within a 5-mile radius
Requirements
What you’ll need- Valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse issued by the Arizona State Board of Nursing or issued by another state recognized by the Arizona Board of Nursing as a multi-compact license state
- Ability to work inside a jail
- Ability to respond to emergencies
- Ability to get on the floor to perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, and lift patients on a gurney that may weigh up to 35 pounds
- Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy
- Must meet drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive
