About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Resolve moderate complexity and moderate exposure Workers Compensation claims in multiple jurisdictions
- Handle claims in all jurisdictions
- Handle litigated and non-litigated property damage claims with values up to $250,000
- Handle non-litigated bodily injury claims with values up to $250,000 in all jurisdictions
- Confirm claim coverage by reviewing policies and supporting documents
- Analyze coverage and communicate coverage positions
- Draft coverage position letters
- Identify losses that should be reported to SIU
- Conduct, coordinate, and direct investigations into loss facts and extent of damages
- Evaluate coverage, liability, and damages information to determine insured exposure
- Set reserves within authority or recommend reserve changes to the manager
- Participate in special projects and assist other team members as requested
- Represent Markel in mediations as required
- Provide excellent and professional customer service to insureds while maintaining a high level of production
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Adjusters’ license or legal license in at least one jurisdiction
- Minimum 5 years of claims handling (or equivalent work) experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Power Point Word)
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong desire for continuous improvement
- US Work Authorization required
