About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of Sundry GLs and Internal Accounts from a financial reporting perspective
  • Prepare and manage Group-level NPL Classified advances and Provisions and IFRS 9 ECL
  • Conduct periodic reviews of Sundry GLs and Internal Accounts
  • Review and submit periodic Sundry Account reports with variance explanations and recommendations
  • Perform monthly variance analysis and identify deviations from expected performance
  • Conduct critical review, maintenance, and exception reporting of MB Group Sundry Accounts in Oracle for UAE branches, coordinating with subsidiary companies and overseas branches
  • Monitor financial and internal controls, including reverse balances, abnormal balances, mismatch balances, GL subsidiary differences, and business purpose codes
  • Perform month-end closing and prepare and submit post-closing adjustments
  • Monitor Charge/Write Off Accounts and report recoveries of written-off accounts
  • Reconcile and clear outstanding entries of UAE Nostro Mirror accounts
  • Manage access review functions for systems and functions under the financial reporting unit
  • Define and regularly update SLA/SOP/APPM in line with bank policy
  • Manage exceptions under the Governance Framework
  • Analyze financial data, identify discrepancies and anomalies, and perform root cause analysis
  • Resolve account discrepancies and control issues while anticipating and mitigating risks
  • Collaborate with branches, head office departments, subsidiaries, overseas branches, internal teams, external auditors, and other bank units

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Chartered Accountant (CA), ACCA, CPA, or equivalent qualification is required
  • Minimum 6 to 7 years of experience in financial reporting, accounting, or internal controls, with a preference for experience in the banking or financial services sector
  • Proven track record in managing General Ledger accounts, variance analysis, and financial controls in a large organization
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and regulatory reporting standards applicable to the banking sector
  • Expertise in financial analysis, reconciliations, and exception management
  • Proficiency in using core banking systems, accounting software, and advanced Excel tools
  • Knowledge of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR)
