About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Independently perform all echocardiograms, including complex valve, congenital, Cath/EP lab, biopsy, TAVR, pediatric, fetal, structural, and 3D transesophageal studies
- Perform comprehensive echocardiographic studies for pediatric, post-operative, adult congenital, and fetal patients
- Troubleshoot Epic/PACS issues
- Precept junior staff, students, and fellows
- Lead the team in the absence of lead sonographers and provide backup support
- Collect data for Intersocietal Accreditation Commission accreditation
- Guide administrative support staff on technical and scheduling questions
- Support Cath/EP lab procedures, biopsies, and TAVR cases
- Maintain accreditation applications and quality assurance activities
- Participate in teaching, mentoring, research data collection, imaging analysis, abstract presentations, and manuscript preparation
- Prepare accurate preliminary reports and comply with patient privacy, safety, departmental, and hospital policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography preferred
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) credential through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) credential through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) required
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- 3–5 years of sonographer experience preferred
- Skilled in performing echocardiograms on critically ill or high-acuity patients
- Ability to adapt techniques to complex clinical scenarios
- Flexibility and adaptability across inpatient, outpatient, procedural, and emergency environments
- For NH sites, a Medical Imaging License through the state's OPLC is required upon hire
- Active pediatric echocardiography certification as required
