About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leaders, managers, faculty, trainees, and HR partners on employee and labor relations matters
  • Conduct sensitive workplace investigations involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, violence, substance abuse, abusive conduct, diversion, compliance, and privacy breaches
  • Prepare investigation reports, present findings, and recommend remedial or corrective actions
  • Interpret and apply employment policies, collective bargaining agreements, medical staff bylaws, and employment laws
  • Manage religious, disability, and pregnancy accommodation requests and facilitate interactive dialogue
  • Advise leaders, physicians, advanced practice providers, researchers, and trainees on policies, employment terms, policy violations, and performance management
  • Support corrective measures, performance improvement plans, and voluntary and involuntary terminations
  • Provide coaching, conflict resolution, and leadership consultation
  • Partner with HR, legal, patient safety, privacy, compliance, and other stakeholders on complex cases
  • Support responses to complaints filed with MCAD, EEOC, and other government agencies; attend or testify at hearings and arbitrations as appropriate
  • Support grievance, arbitration, labor-management, collective bargaining, contract administration, and labor-organizing activities
  • Analyze workforce dashboards, identify trends and root causes, and facilitate climate surveys
  • Develop action plans addressing workplace and employee engagement concerns
  • Deliver training and educate leaders and staff on professionalism, management practices, leadership styles, employment law, and policy compliance
  • Mentor and train Employee and Labor Relations Partners
  • Lead projects, act as a subject matter expert, and assist with SOP development and maintenance

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Juris Doctor (JD) required
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 5+ years of Employee Relations/HR Business Partner experience required
  • Business acumen and ability to support department/division action plans
  • Critical evaluation and data analytic skills
  • Leadership and navigation of department initiatives
  • Consultation and guidance to leaders
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Relationship management and change management abilities
  • Strong customer-service orientation
  • Current knowledge of state and federal employment and labor laws
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and understand when to escalate issues
  • Ability to manage multiple commitments and priorities
  • Ability to maintain composure under pressure
  • Full-time availability, Monday through Friday, standard business hours
  • Flexibility to work on-site weekly at Assembly Row or another Mass General Brigham site based on business needs
  • Stable, secure, quiet, compliant workstation and MGB-issued equipment for remote workdays
