About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process and prepare research grant proposals, awards, and transactions
  • Maintain grant and contract records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor requirements
  • Assist with budgets, justifications, and financial reporting materials
  • Review proposals for compliance with sponsor and organizational guidelines
  • Process purchase orders and manage accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Resolve accounting requests and issues
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of research departments
  • Serve as the primary Pre-Award/Post-Award resource for department administrators and Principal Investigators
  • Monitor expenditures and assure budgetary compliance
  • Evaluate excessive charges and advise on allowability of grant costs
  • Liaise with grantor agencies and subcontracting institutions
  • Guide stakeholders through the research proposal, submission, and application process

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate's Degree in Financial Management required, or Associate's Degree in a Related Field of Study required
  • 1–2 years of research administration experience required
  • Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, accounting, and other computer applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Good organization and coordination skills
  • Ability to work with large financial data sets with accuracy
  • Good working knowledge of research agency, sponsor, and organization funding guidelines and policies
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to make good judgments and resolve problems
  • Cover letter highly preferred
