About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function as a member of the patient care team under the direction of the Registered Nurse
- Support the RN with clinical tasks including blood glucose monitoring, completing EKGs, applying simple dressings, using aseptic technique, and responding to medical emergencies
- Respond to the needs of patients and family members
- Take an active role in the efficient operation of the unit
- Assure the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model
- Work weekend and holiday rotation on the Med/Surg unit
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma or GED certificate required
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant license required
- Prior PCA/CNA experience preferred
- Heartsaver CPR and AED skills
- Ability to perform blood glucose monitoring
- Ability to complete EKGs
- Ability to apply simple dressings using aseptic technique
- Ability to respond to medical emergency situations
- Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
- At least 1–2 weekend shifts a month
- 8-hour shifts minimum
- Per diem commitment of 16 shifts in 6 months
