About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform magnetic resonance imaging studies safely using MRI systems
  • Prepare and position patients and set imaging parameters
  • Acquire, process, and display diagnostic-quality images
  • Select appropriate imaging protocols and perform quality assurance scans
  • Verify patient identity and exam details according to Joint Commission standards
  • Perform IV insertions and contrast injections, monitor adverse reactions, and document in the EMR
  • Educate patients and visitors on MRI safety and respond to equipment-related emergencies
  • Perform scheduled MRI equipment quality-control checks and report issues
  • Assist with scheduling, patient transport, inventory, and filing
  • Rotate among MRI scanners across the assigned department as needed
  • Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, child life specialists, MRI leadership, and hospital personnel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Other Certificate/Diploma Medical Imaging required or Associate's Degree Medical Imaging preferred
  • MRI Tech experience with multiple patient populations: 0–1 year required
  • MRI Registered Technologist with ARRT or ARMRIT required within one year of hire
  • Ability to operate complex electronic equipment and instrumentation
  • Ability to perform quality control procedures
  • Ability to transfer and lift patients to MRI scan tables and stretchers
  • Ability to provide appropriate care to various age populations
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct
  • Experience with EMR MRI search engine, electronic dose calculators, image review systems (PACS), and departmental safety tools
  • Ability to work collaboratively with MRI leadership, departmental staff, and hospital personnel
