About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Prepare patients and position them for MRI studies
- Select imaging protocols and set imaging parameters
- Acquire, process, display, and maintain diagnostic-quality MRI images
- Perform MRI scans for ambulatory and outpatient patients
- Perform IV insertions and contrast injections; monitor adverse reactions and document procedures in the EMR
- Educate patients and visitors on MRI safety and enforce safety protocols
- Respond to equipment-related emergencies
- Perform scheduled MRI equipment quality control checks and report issues
- Verify patient identity and exam details according to Joint Commission standards
- Assist with scheduling, patient transport, inventory, and filing
- Rotate among MRI scanners across the assigned department as needed
- Collaborate with MRI leadership and departmental personnel to maintain patient flow and scanner utilization
- May oversee students and work with lab animals for research purposes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Other Certificate/Diploma in Medical Imaging required
- Associate's Degree in Medical Imaging preferred
- MRI Registered Technologist with ARRT or ARMRIT required within one year of hire
- MRI Tech experience with multiple patient populations: 0–1 year required
- Ability to operate complex electronic equipment and instrumentation
- Ability to perform quality control procedures
- Ability to transfer and lift patients to MRI scan tables and stretchers
- Ability to provide appropriate care to various age populations
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professional conduct
- Experience with EMR MRI search engine, electronic dose calculators, image review systems (PACS), and departmental tools
- Ability to work collaboratively with MRI leadership, departmental staff, and hospital personnel
