About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Confirm the correct patient and exam through patient confirmation, interview, history, and medical records
  • Modify and document patient information as needed to ensure accurate imaging and records
  • Explain exams, contrast administration, safety protocols, and procedures while considering patients’ physical, emotional, and language needs
  • Adjust equipment and technical factors for safe imaging
  • Perform imaging using appropriate equipment and contrast according to department protocol or Radiologist request
  • Label exams correctly and ensure images successfully arrive in PACS
  • Operate fluoroscopic, portable, and diagnostic equipment
  • Perform Tech 1 duties and at least one consistent specialty rotation
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Adhere to departmental and hospital policies
  • Cover alternate locations or Mass General Brigham sites when needed and appropriately trained
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Other Certificate/Diploma in Radiography required
  • Radiologic Technologist and Technician state license required
  • Registered Technologist [R.T.(ARRT)] certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists required
  • 1-2 years of Radiology Technician experience with multiple patient populations required
  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, radiation physics, ALARA, radiographic equipment, and positioning
  • Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to emergency and infection control situations
  • Board eligible through the American Board of Radiology
  • Ability to use radiographic, fluoroscopic, portable, diagnostic, and contrast equipment
  • Ability to work with patients and fellow employees under physical or emotional stress
  • Flexibility to adapt to operational needs
