About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage all phases of research grant and contract administration for an assigned portfolio of research departments
  • Provide guidance and resolve issues throughout the research proposal submission and application process
  • Assist with budget development and interpret sponsor requirements
  • Ensure proposals meet sponsor and institutional guidelines and regulations
  • Process and prepare research grant proposals, awards, and transactions
  • Maintain grant and contract records in compliance with institutional and sponsor requirements
  • Prepare budgets, justifications, and financial reporting materials
  • Identify and prevent projected overruns and identify cost-sharing opportunities
  • Propose and implement solutions to potential fiscal issues
  • Verify sponsor requirements are met and documented in the appropriate system
  • Serve as department or team grant management expert
  • Train and orient new staff
  • Support highest-complexity work and may achieve institutional signing authority

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study required
  • Research administration experience: 3–5 years required
  • Proficient in spreadsheet, database, accounting, and other computer applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Good organization and coordination skills
  • Ability to work with large financial data sets accurately
  • Good working knowledge of research agency, sponsor, and organization funding guidelines and policies
  • Good negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to make good judgments and resolve problems
  • Cover letter highly preferred
