About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Process medication orders entered by prescribers
- Provide medications promptly and accurately for patient administration
- Supply timely and accurate medication information to healthcare workers and patients
- Represent Pharmacy on key programs, including nutrition support and the Safety Committee
- Act as a liaison, serve on committees, recommend policies and procedures, and review drug and supply requirements
- Coordinate daily workload with department needs
- Check medication fills, including cassettes, Omnicells, and floor stock
- Prepare and process IV admixtures
- Process sufficient quantities of prescriber medication orders
- Provide drug consultations to healthcare personnel and patients
- Detect and document adverse drug events, including adverse reactions, medication errors, and near misses
- Perform and document target drug interventions
- Maintain necessary records
- Provide training and in-service education to Pharmacy, Nursing, and medical staff
- Ensure proper drug security and control
- Complete assigned medication inventory duties
- Perform additional duties as requested by the Pharmacy Director or Assistant Director
Requirements
What you’ll need- Baccalaureate (or higher) degree in Pharmacy from an approved school of pharmacy
- Current registration as a Pharmacist in the State of Massachusetts, with no disciplinary actions taken
- Hospital Pharmacy experience is required
- Ability to understand and clearly communicate with all areas of health care personnel
- Understanding of basic Pharmacy Department operations, including prescriber medication orders, Omnicell cabinets and software, Epic, repackaging machine, and other pharmacy technology
- Sufficient pharmaceutical knowledge for safe and effective medication distribution
- Ability to work the night shift, 7 on/7 off
- 36 scheduled weekly hours
