About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner directly with senior members of Tinder’s engineering team
  • Contribute solutions to Tinder’s backend system
  • Collaborate across Tinder Engineering on expansion of the service platform
  • Develop and operate scalable, resilient distributed services on Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Build large-scale distributed systems handling billions of data events per day
  • Write unit and integration tests
  • Apply Generative AI tools in real-world engineering work
  • Improve architecture design and explore and leverage new technologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Aspiring backend developer excited to work on large scale challenges with cutting-edge technology
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Java, Scala, Python, TypeScript, or Node.js
  • Foundational knowledge of computer science principles, including data structures and algorithms
  • Curiosity and creativity in leveraging Generative AI for feature building and development workflows
  • Currently pursuing a BS/BA, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related field
  • Prior internship or backend systems work experience (nice to have)
  • Relevant project experience such as hackathons, personal projects, GitHub, open source, volunteer coding experience (nice to have)
  • Knowledge of Protocol Buffers, gRPC, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, Elasticsearch, or Redis (nice to have)
  • Awareness of AWS technologies such as DynamoDB, S3, RDS, or ElastiCache (nice to have)
