About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as lead counsel for global cybersecurity matters as a core member of Match Group's incident response team
- Advise on breach assessment, regulatory notification obligations, and legal strategy across jurisdictions
- Monitor, interpret, and operationalize emerging privacy, cyber, and data laws around the world
- Conduct horizon scanning and gap analysis
- Translate new obligations into actionable compliance programs, including for AI, biometrics, and breach notification
- Partner with the Security team on vendor risk assessments, audits, and compliance frameworks
- Advise product and engineering teams on privacy-by-design for new features and data flows
- Develop and maintain internal legal guidance, policies, and playbooks
- Support global privacy-program audits, assessments, and cross-functional governance initiatives
- Work collaboratively and independently with the global Privacy Team
Requirements
What you’ll need- Qualified lawyer with a law degree and bar admission in BC
- 5+ years of legal experience, with meaningful focus on privacy, cybersecurity, AI and/or technology law
- Hands-on experience advising on cybersecurity incident response, including regulatory notification obligations across multiple jurisdictions
- Working knowledge of the GDPR, PIPEDA, US state privacy and cybersecurity laws
- Willingness to acquire knowledge of laws further afield
- Understanding of digital products, including data flows, APIs, SDKs, and AI/ML
- Ability to engage credibly with technical and product teams
- Effective legal communicator able to advise senior leadership and translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable guidance
- Ability to thrive in fast-moving, ambiguous environments and manage multiple high-priority matters simultaneously
- Self-starter who takes initiative and exercises sound independent legal judgment
