About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform complex and specialized secretarial support and legal document processing under the direction of assigned attorneys and/or supervisor
- Provide support to assigned attorneys regarding computer software and hardware functions and applications
- Provide overflow coverage for other secretarial assignments as requested
- Perform telephone, voicemail, photocopying, e-fax, email, courier, accounting, billing, conflict-check, new-client-matter, filing, and records-center procedures
- Input and revise documents according to author instructions using firm equipment and software
- Proofread work products
- Photocopy, assemble, and distribute prepared materials
- Redline, email, and otherwise process documents as requested
- Enter attorney time into the firm timekeeping system
- Use firm and department equipment and software, including computers, scanners, e-fax, InTapp, Desksite, Word 2007, and DeltaView
- Complete personal timekeeping, attendance tracking, and timecard submission
- Answer telephone and monitor email and/or voicemail for attorney assignments upon request
- Advise supervisor of equipment, software, maintenance, or training issues
- Provide overtime coverage on occasion as required
- Promote professionalism and perform other duties supporting firm goals and objectives
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma required; preferred college degree
- 7-10 years experience as a legal secretary required
- Computer proficiency with knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Typing speed of 70 wpm
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
- Excellent grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills
- Excellent communication and organization skills; ability to multi-task
- Ability to work in a team environment and support assigned attorneys with minimal supervision
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment and support demanding firm needs
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with shifting priorities
- Self-starter with a high level of initiative
- Strong customer service skills and ability to anticipate needs
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion
