About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support Mayer Brown partners and matter teams with legal service delivery using legal project management techniques and tools
  • Manage resources, scope, budgets, and task allocation
  • Develop project plans and track matter timelines, milestones, and dependencies
  • Set and communicate engagement expectations with matter teams and clients
  • Facilitate matter team meetings and manage the client–Mayer Brown team interface for LPM engagements
  • Build partner relationships and develop a pipeline of matters to manage
  • Proactively assist partners within the role’s responsibilities
  • Apply legal, financial, and project-management concepts and provide clear responses
  • Identify improvements to LPM activities and pursue professional development
  • Maintain current knowledge of LPM trends, tools, and best practices
  • Assist with LPM training for lawyers, business services personnel, and clients
  • Manage multiple matters concurrently
  • Operate with minimal supervision within the global LPM strategy and framework
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives
  • Implement technology, including AI, and manage internal and external resources to deliver legal services efficiently and effectively

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required
  • JD degree desirable
  • Minimum of five years of legal experience within a law firm required
  • Experience practicing law or in project management required
  • AmLaw 100 experience preferred
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint, required
  • Ability to quickly learn and remain current with emerging legal technology required
  • Understanding of effective prompt creation for generative artificial intelligence systems preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and support demanding Firm needs
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with shifting priorities
  • High level of initiative
  • Strong customer service skills and independent judgment
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
