About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Work alongside attorneys and support staff in Ohio and other firm offices
- Assist existing attorneys with caseloads and independently carry a diverse caseload
- Review documentation related to Ohio default practice for compliance with state and federal law
- Draft and review pleadings and case-related documents
- Evaluate files, provide legal opinions, and rectify file-level issues
- Review loan documents and title reports; identify and recommend cures for title issues
- Cure simple and complex title issues through litigation or non-litigated means
- Create, review, and edit reports, correspondence, and other documents
- Advise clients on file-level issues
- Independently manage files, deadlines, dockets, and a diverse caseload
- Collaborate with attorneys and operational staff across departments
- Represent clients at virtual and in-person hearings
- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, clients, and team members
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Licensed in the state of Ohio
- At least 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney
- 3+ years of foreclosure, title, and/or financial services experience
- Experience in foreclosure, title, and/or financial services
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Membership and good standing with the Ohio State Bar
- Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws
- Ability to analyze case law and provide recommendations
- Ability to navigate local and Ohio jurisdictional requirements
- High-level proficiency in MS Office suite
- Proficiency in internet research activities
- Familiarity with case and document management software, including BKFS, Tempo, and Vendorscape
- Good understanding of policies and procedures of law
- Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional organizational, time-management, multitasking, and adaptability skills
- Ability to delegate, follow up, and monitor tasks to completion without significant supervision
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States now and in the future
- No employment sponsorship or immigration support available
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
