Key responsibilities & impact

Review uploaded bills weekly and determine whether they are lowerable, how, with what confidence, and what data could change the assessment
Own negotiation quality across open and closed cases
Run weekly QA on Healthcare Advocate and AI-agent casework
Identify patterns in casework and turn them into training
Serve as the escalation point for VIP, high-complexity, and specialized cases
Build playbooks, training, and onboarding for the Healthcare Advocate team
Partner with Product as the domain owner for the AI bill analyzer
Ensure features affecting Healthcare Advocate workflows launch with supporting training
Publish weekly reports on opportunities for the Healthcare Advocate team
Translate user and advocate pain points into roadmap input
Work between Product and CX to improve advocacy quality and scale operations

Requirements

What you’ll need

6+ years in health system revenue cycle, patient financial services, or payer operations
Knowledge of medical billing, including CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, EOBs, denials and appeals, financial assistance policies, No Surprises Act rules, and self-pay discounts
Real negotiation experience with providers or payers
Ability to explain reasoning clearly to engineers and advocates
Experience writing training, playbooks, or QA programs
Based in NYC and in the office Monday through Thursday
Time spent on both the provider and payer sides of a bill (nice-to-have)
Experience partnering with product or engineering on healthcare tooling or automation (nice-to-have)
Hands-on work with AI or agentic tools in a billing, clinical, or ops setting (nice-to-have)
Early-stage startup experience or experience building a new function inside a large system (nice-to-have)
Comfortable with ambiguous projects and shifting scope
Subject matter expertise in healthcare navigation
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Employees must be located in the US
