About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Evaluate, install, and support complex network communications equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and application delivery controllers/load balancers
- Test and evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements
- Install and support MPLS WAN and IPsec VPNs
- Contribute to network architecture design and supporting network services including DNS and DHCP
- Monitor and troubleshoot network and security systems using diagnostic tools
- Implement solutions to meet predefined requirements
- Test and implement disaster recovery procedures
- Assist with selection and implementation of network, communications, security, and systems infrastructure for global company needs
- Document acceptance test failures and coordinate with vendors to correct defects
- Research and recommend technologies for product development and performance maintenance
- Collaborate with network engineering and IT Infrastructure teams on projects and proof-of-concept projects
- Formulate designs with vendors and team members
- Collect and analyze network utilization data and generate periodic management reports
- Execute environmental changes, including during non-standard business hours
- Follow change management and configuration management policies and procedures
- Keep management informed through regular communication and status reports
- Provide rotational on-call support during non-business hours using a company-issued phone and pager
- Mentor less experienced network and IT staff and act as lead in management’s absence
- Rack and cable network/server equipment as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS/BA and 8+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 4 years of SME in respective areas
- Cisco CCNP or CCDP required
- Checkpoint CCSA preferred
- Experience with Citrix NetScaler ADC
- Experience with Cisco Catalyst/Nexus switching hardware, ASR/ISR routers, Cisco IOS/NX-OS
- Knowledge of Solaris/Linux/Windows/VMWare
- Knowledge of SSL Certificate management, Net Flow management and reporting, SNMP, and Shell Scripting
- Knowledge of ITIL and SAS-70
- Knowledge of networking and routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, and Ethernet
- Proficiency with MS Office and Outlook
- Ability to read and comprehend packet captures
- Understanding of networking technologies in server virtualization environments using VMWare
- Familiarity with HIPAA, SOX and PCI requirements
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work beyond standard business hours as needed
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with limited standardization
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and write routine reports
- Ability to work domestically up to 25% of the time
