Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain, gain and grow key brands with strategic national retail customers
  • Deliver customer-aligned strategy and tactical initiatives to achieve sales and share performance goals
  • Identify growth opportunities and collaborate with brand marketing, finance, supply chain, category management and shopper marketing teams
  • Develop and drive short- and long-term account strategies for profitable growth
  • Build account knowledge and position products, programs and promotions to maximize sales
  • Lead customer interactions, including new item launches, annual plans and logistics
  • Represent the customer to internal leadership and influence business strategies and launch support plans
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations
  • Follow up on sales service and develop new business opportunities
  • Lead the customer account planning cycle
  • Develop, manage and monitor the detailed account sales budget
  • Manage account program costs and champion cost-reduction initiatives
  • Conduct internal and external account business reviews
  • Assess competitive pricing to maximize sales and profitability
  • Develop new product ideas and product launch plans with product divisions
  • Manage internal forecasting procedures and develop customer feasibility business cases
  • Gather and share intelligence on product performance, customers, competitors, consumers, opportunities, pricing, promotions and products
  • Lead account projects and mentor other Retail Account Managers
  • Lead day-to-day activities and outcomes of a group of employees; may participate in hiring, compensation recommendations, performance reviews, training, development and work assignment decisions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related field
  • At least 8 years of direct sales and/or account management experience
  • Advanced knowledge of sales acumen, trade, category management and marketing concepts/methods
  • Ability to execute sales marketing strategies and tactics
  • Ability to analyze market trends and develop presentations, recommendations and business forecasts
  • Ability to present to senior management or C-suite and report on project plans and cost-benefit analyses
  • Ability to assess situations and initiate actions independently
  • Time management skills, including prioritizing, organizing, tracking details and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work with and facilitate cross-functional teams to solve complex problems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% of the time, within state and out of state
