About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Apply human-centered principles, methodologies, and technologies to human-machine systems and product design
  • Develop and implement research methodologies and qualitative and quantitative analysis plans
  • Test and evaluate new concepts and developmental prototypes across product development phases and processes
  • Design and execute simulated product-use tests with intended users
  • Investigate user needs and explore, select, and refine concepts
  • Develop requirements and identify use-related risks
  • Conduct formal usability validation
  • Collaborate with design engineers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements
  • Identify and analyze technological problems or risks
  • Perform theoretical human factors investigations
  • Develop and implement research and analysis plans to inform new product development
  • Manage major or moderately complex projects, delegate work, and review work products
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees
  • Represent the organization to internal and external customers and vendors

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, OR Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, OR PhD with 3 years relevant experience
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree satisfying 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required
  • Expertise in human-centered principles, methodologies, and technologies
  • Experience developing research methodologies and qualitative and quantitative analysis plans
  • Experience testing and evaluating concepts and developmental prototypes throughout product development
  • Experience conducting user need investigations, concept exploration, requirements development, use-related risk identification, and formal usability validation
  • Ability to perform theoretical human factors investigations and develop research and analysis plans
  • Ability to work with design engineers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements
  • U.S. work authorization requirements apply; sponsorship is offered for Principal-level roles and above under stated conditions
