About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the key link between the legal team, business partners, outside counsel and other stakeholders
- Draft, review and redline legal agreements within the portfolio
- Ensure agreements and contract terms align with Medtronic policies and legal, regulatory and compliance advice
- Act as liaison to business personnel and respond to routine legal questions
- Seek input from additional resources when needed to answer questions
- Work with business functions to understand needs and streamline legal processes
- Conduct legal and compliance research as directed by OU attorneys
- Provide day-to-day legal support to the Medical Surgical operating unit
- Meet with business clients to provide solutions and direction
- Assist with business development activities
- Support complex contracting and litigation
- Oversee work directed to Centers of Expertise or other areas
- Gather information, clarify objectives and assess compliance with company policies
- Assist with due diligence for M&A-related activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant paralegal experience, including drafting, redlining and negotiating contracts; or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience
- Experience working with moderate-to-complex agreements
- Solid understanding of general contract terms and conditions
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate autonomously in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization
- Strong conflict resolution and influencing skills
- Organizational, detail-oriented and process-oriented skills
- Experience with contract management lifecycle systems
- Experience handling highly confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Familiarity with advanced legal concepts and terminology, legal document formatting, legal research and writing
- Excellent written and verbal interpersonal/communication skills
- Integrity and strong ethical character
- Independent judgment and discretion
- Ability to prioritize workload, manage client expectations and execute critical priorities
- Ability to manage multiple ongoing tasks
- Ability to solve problems across many stakeholders
- Ability to work well under pressure in a dynamic environment
- For baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree satisfying 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required
