About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the key link between the legal team, business partners, outside counsel and other stakeholders
  • Draft, review and redline legal agreements within the portfolio
  • Ensure agreements and contract terms comply with Medtronic policies and legal, regulatory and compliance advice
  • Act as liaison to business personnel and respond to routine questions
  • Seek input from additional resources when needed to answer questions
  • Work with business functions to understand needs and streamline legal processes
  • Conduct legal and compliance research as directed by OU attorneys
  • Support day-to-day legal issues and programs for the Medical Surgical operating unit
  • Meet with business clients to provide solutions and direction
  • Assist with business development activities
  • Provide complex contracting and litigation support
  • Oversee work directed to Centers of Expertise or other areas
  • Gather information, clarify objectives and assess compliance with company policies
  • Assist with due diligence for M&A-related activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant paralegal experience, including experience drafting, redlining and negotiating contracts; or an advanced degree with 5+ years of experience
  • Paralegal degree or certificate
  • Experience working with moderate-to-complex agreements
  • Solid understanding of general contract terms and conditions
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate with autonomy in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to navigate a highly matrixed organization
  • Strong conflict resolution and influencing skills
  • Relationship-building and communication with cross-functional partners
  • Demonstrated organizational, detail and process-oriented skills
  • Experience with contract management lifecycle systems
  • Experience handling highly confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Familiarity with advanced legal concepts and terminology, legal document formatting, legal research and writing
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal/communication skills
