About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead convention strategy, planning, and execution for assigned business sectors
- Advise business stakeholders on convention opportunities, participation strategies, and event investment optimization
- Partner with marketing, communications, and sales teams on convention plans, messaging, and customer engagement strategies
- Manage exhibit logistics including space selection, exhibitor services, vendor coordination, shipping, installation, dismantling, and on-site execution
- Develop and manage convention budgets, forecasts, and expenses
- Coordinate convention-related meetings, sponsored programs, and communications
- Collaborate with industry associations, exhibitor advisory committees, and external partners
- Ensure compliance with Medtronic policies, AdvaMed guidelines, association regulations, and applicable legal requirements
- Travel to support convention planning, site visits, and on-site event execution
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School Diploma/GED and 8+ years OR Associate Degree and 6+ years OR Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of experience in convention management, event management, marketing operations, communications, or a related business function
- Experience managing budgets, forecasts, project expenses, and vendor relationships
- Experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders and managing multiple concurrent projects
- Ability to travel up to 25%
- Experience planning and executing conventions, congresses, trade shows, exhibits, or large-scale corporate events
- Experience supporting healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, or life sciences convention programs
- Knowledge of AdvaMed guidelines, healthcare compliance requirements, and association regulations
- Experience managing large or complex exhibits, sponsored programs, and multi-business convention initiatives
- Experience partnering with professional associations, exhibitor advisory committees, or industry organizations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and event management platforms
- For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree satisfying 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required
- Unrestricted U.S. work authorization required at time of hire and for duration of employment; sponsorship is not offered for roles below Principal level
