About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support complex and strategic transactions for data centre procurement and customer agreements from negotiation through execution
- Partner with the Chief Legal Officer, executive leadership and senior stakeholders on high-priority legal matters focused primarily on the compute division
- Advise on the legal and commercial structure of strategic partnerships involving cloud, networking, data centres, infrastructure, compute, storage, software and technology services
- Lead negotiations with global technology companies, cloud providers, infrastructure providers, strategic partners, enterprise customers and suppliers
- Advise on technology, data, privacy, intellectual property, cybersecurity and regulatory issues arising from strategic transactions
- Support the CLO and legal team leaders on commercially sensitive special projects and strategic initiatives
- Act as a trusted senior Legal team member and sounding board on complex commercial issues
- Support the broader global legal team during busy periods
- Simplify workflows and improve contracting approaches while preserving key risk controls
- Help senior leaders assess commercial structure, risk allocation and execution paths for high-value opportunities
Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant post-qualification experience as a lawyer (between 7–10 years), ideally including substantial in-house experience in a technology, data centre, cloud, telecommunications, infrastructure or SaaS environment
- Admission and good standing in at least one US jurisdiction
- Experience leading complex, high-value or strategically important commercial transactions with sophisticated counterparties
- Strong technology transactions experience
- Experience working directly with C-suite executives and senior business leaders
- Exceptional commercial judgement
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Excellent drafting skills, particularly for bespoke transactions
- Plain English, practical and commercial advice style
- Ability to independently resolve ambiguous problems and drive outcomes
- Intellectual curiosity and interest in technology
- Strong stakeholder instincts and adaptable communication style
- Ability to manage several significant matters simultaneously across jurisdictions and time zones
- High levels of integrity, discretion and professional judgement
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, Network as a Service, telecommunications, data centres, AI infrastructure or adjacent technology sectors is advantageous
- Experience negotiating with hyperscalers or major global technology companies is advantageous
- Experience with strategic alliances, joint go-to-market arrangements, capacity or infrastructure agreements, complex procurement arrangements or new product launches is advantageous
- Exposure to corporate transactions, investments, acquisitions or other strategic corporate projects is advantageous
- Experience in a fast-growing, global or publicly listed technology company is advantageous
